Ask, Faith, wonder

Found this today. Not sure who the author is but it’s on point.

I think it’s a bit dishonest to use “Have faith like a child” as a way to shut a person down. Like, somehow, it means we’re not supposed to wonder, we’re just supposed to accept. Now that I have a house full of small humanity, I think I’m beginning to understand why Jesus would encourage us to have faith like a child. They don’t know. And so they ask. We don’t know. And so we ask. The asking isn’t wrong. The wondering isn’t wrong. The doubt isn’t wrong.

All You Need

Excellent post from Mustard Seed Budget.

You don’t need a fancy building. As a matter of fact, a fancy building can be the ruin of a church. Where does the New Testament say Christians focused on buildings? In the first century, they met in homes, next to river and then in catacombs. All you need is the Spirit and the Word. […]

“If you show me a woman who can sit with a man in real vulnerability and deep fear and be with him in it, I will show you a woman who has done her work and who does not derive her power from that man. And if you show me a man who can sit with a woman in deep struggle and vulnerability and not try to fix it, but just hear her and be with her and hold space for it, I will show you a guy who’s done his work and a man who doesn’t derive his power from controlling and fixing everything.” ~ Brené Brown

Word Salad from Little Red Survivor

Check out this insightful post from a friend of mine.

When I was a kid we used to sing “the salad song.” It was a song made up of random phrases from several songs strung together. If you start a song and someone else wanted to sing the salad song, you could end up sing a different song altogether because once the salad song gets […]

My Least Favourite Things by Little Red Survivor

Here is a poem by a friend of mine. The page can be found here: https://littleredsurvivor.com/2015/12/08/my-least-favorite-things/

My Least Favorite Things

People who punish as much as they’re able,
Gossip and whining and pride on the table,
Gifts and affection all tied up with strings,
These are a few of my least favorite things.

Family secrets and abject denial,
Threatening and judging and people on trial
Sneers and snide comments and yelling that stings
These are a few of my least favorite things.

Unwise expectations that I should not tell,
Those who have created their own private hell,
Ostracization and hatred that clings,
These are a few of my least favorite things.

When I’m missing family dinners–
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my least favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.

A great post from Sascha Hjort.

Last night I had a dream that woke me up with a smile on my face. I was laying in my bed and woke up with a strange feeling. When I looked to my left side, I saw myself sitting there. I observed her for a while. She didn’t know that I was there, all […]

This is a great post from The Upside Down Chronicles.

But I promise that it is okay for you to feel like this. You don’t have to pull yourself together. I know everything is too fast and you feel too slow. The world hurts you every time you leave your bed. You feel pain physically and mentally as you bound between every anxiety-made impossibility. You feel completely […]
